eS Game of S.K.A.T.E. Ontario finals!

eS Footwear & Timebomb Trading are proud to host this years eS Game of Skate - Ontario Finals. It is an open invitation to all and we highly suggest pre-registering to secure yourself a spot in this years contest. The winner will be flown to Vancouver this August to compete in the Canadian finals. The winner of that will be flown to California for the international finals of the eS Game of Skate.

This year the Toronto game will again take place Sunday July 19th, 2009 at Poyner Park (aka Dunbat) which is on the South East corner of Dundas and Bathurst. The patches are from a recent book, “I Could Tell You but Then You Would Have to Be Destroyed by Me,” by Trevor Paglen. We’d like to introduce you to Joey Altruda and his Vinyl Meltdown show on
Reserve Radio. Joey’s been a fixture in the Los Angeles music scene for
about 28 years. He first made his mark in the early 80s with post punk band
Tupelo Chain Sex, then later with Jump With Joey, in which his blend of
traditional Jamaican Ska and Afro-Cuban rhythms lead him to the forefront
of the third wave Ska movement. His 1995 release of “Cocktails with Joey”
also set the pace for the lounge music revival incorporating the exotic
sound stylings of Les Baxter, Esquivel and Henry Mancini with Ennio
Morricone and Tito Puente. Besides being an accomplished composer and
arranger, he is also the proprietor of the longest running recording studio
in Los Angeles, first opened in about 1936, now known only as “Joeys Place”.

Emerica Wild in the Streets - Canada

Emerica’s Wild in the Streets main event goes international for the first time! The Emerica team will be heading up to Vancouver, BC, Canada for Go Skateboarding Day on June 21, 2009, for Wild in the Streets. This year, Wild in the Streets will benefit LeeSide , the underground DIY skatepark that Vancouver skateboarder and artist Lee Matasi envisioned and began creating before his untimely death. Lee was shot and killed in 2005, but lives on through LeeSide.

An Emerican army consisting of a few thousand skateboarders will charge the streets of Vancouver during the Wild in the Streets 2009. Emerica is hosting the event this year to raise awareness about Lee Matasi, to raise money to help LeeSide continue to grow, and to support the Vancouver skateboarding community. Emerica will be selling t-shirts and all funds raised during the event will go toward the construction of new obstacles for LeeSide.

The event will also be taking place in Toronto, Ottawa, and Quebec.

In case you need another reason to head to Vancouver, the Emerica team will be making an appearance at Underworld on Saturday, June 20th at 2:00 p.m., followed by a session at LeeSide with the entire team.

eS GOS in Lévis

This past Saturday, June 30th, we headed to Lévis, on the South-Shore of Québec City, to host the qualifications for éS Game of S.K.A.T.E. With 44 skaters registered, including 5-0, DLX and EXO team riders, rolling in three lines, the competition level was high.

The crowd of over 200 peoples was wild! At the end of the grill, we had Sebastien Paradis, Gabriel Touchette and Marius the Romanian for a three guys final. After Sebastien was eliminated, the game was tight until Marius eventually took Gab out with a Nollie Bigspin Flip. Big thanks to Etienne and his crew at 5-0 Boardshop, to the city of Lévis and to éS footwear for making it happen.
