Thirty-Two outerwear launch re-cap

The hundreds of snowboarders, retailers, media and hipsters at the ThirtyTwo Outerwear Launch Party, in the etnies Showroom in SoHo last night, won’t ever forget it! They previewed ThirtyTwo’s first- ever outerwear collection, hung out with team riders JP Walker, Joe Sexton and Simon Chamberlain and saw a sneak peak of the ThirtyTwo and StepChild movie “This Video Sucks." The party made such an impact that the NYPD shut it down just before JP Walker’s part was played on the sneak peek. More HERE.

AKAMP

32 and etnies were proud to sponsor the opening of the AKAMP, a snowboard/ski/skate summer camp in Mont St-Sauveur. Two set-ups were made for the campers : one (first picture) consisted of a jibbing park with ledges and rails and the second had a jump and two rails. A big thumbs up to Max Brochu for this growing event. More than 60 campers were able to shred for a couple of days in the middle of summer, when snow usually is only in our best dreams. This gave the kids an opportunity to push some more in their bag of tricks. Thanks and big props to the AKAMP!

Went riding this weekend at Seymour with the Timebomb and NLA crew. Here's NLA's Cy guy destroying the 32 rail. Will all due respect he smashed a great 50/50 on the Dragon rail just before this. Too much confidence? What does he do on this one? Click HERE to find out.

Weekend at Birnie's

It started with OMB (David Birnie) seeing all these lame events for kids that cost money for really...nothing. So, with the help of the Seymour park crew and friends in the industry (32, etnies, Dragon, Dinosaurswilldie, Union, Airblaster, LRG, Da Kine, Capita), we came up with a free event with an overkill of product and no charge for the kids to enter. Kind of a thank you to the kids that are in the know. Three years and four events later, we are at the Weekend at Birnies 2-day parks event. We did day one at the lodge chair park. About 70 kids hung around and rode and were rewarded for trying tricks and just having fun. Fratboy BBQ'd up hot dogs and the sun was out all day. Day two was at the mystery chair lower jib park - the park was perfect for easy hikes and lots of fun things to hit. We even had reps hiking all day long. Lots of kids returned as did the sun and a lot of fun was had. Thanks to everyone that helped me out it's not like I do this by myself. See you next year for the return of Smitty and Hoppy at the Sanford Halfpipe.

32 & Etnies sponsors / Commandite Alternative Snow Mission 08

After an amazing 2007 edition, Alternative Sports in Rimouski comes back full throttle for Quebec’s biggest amateur snowboard competition.

The Alternative Snowmission will be held the weekend of March 15-16 at Mont Comi in Rimouski. The main event will be on the Saturday with the finals under the lights in a complete new course especially designed for the event. This year, Quebec’s best snowboarders will battle it out for more than 10 000$ in cash prizes, an Alternative Snowmission edition snowmobile for the winner in the men’s category and a Macbook pro 15 inch for the winner in the women’s field. Sunday is for all the new kids who want to a shot at competing in snowboarding. Same course as the pros with more than 4000$ in prizes. 2009 demos will be available to everyone throughout the weekend as well as various parties surrounding this inaugural event. Sweeping The 9th Annual Transworld Riders Poll Awards!

Congratulations to etnies Girl and 32 rider Marie-France Roy (Canada) and Dragon direct rider Spencer O’Brien (Canada) on their wins at 9th Annual Transworld SNOWboarding Riders' Poll Awards in Las Vegas, Nevada. Roy took home the “Reader’s Choice Award", and “Video Part of the Year” award for her part in Rome’s “Any Means” and the evening’s top honor as “Women’s Rider of the Year,” bringing her total to a three victories last night. In addition to Roy’s three wins, Spencer was awarded the “Rookie of the Year” award.

As chill and laid back as skateboarding is, the advancement, technology and innovation of skating is a serious focus at STI- Sole Technology's Institute, located at Sole Technology (makers of eS, etnies, emerica, etnies Girl, Altamont, and Thirtytwo) in Lake Forest, California. The worlds only action sports action research lab is 10,000 sq foot biomechanics research laboratory which houses state-of-the-art testing equipment, and a variety of obstacles like mini ramps, handrails, stairs, and ledges.
