New Emerica Pro: Justin Regan!

While ex-Emerica brand manager Justin Regan knew he was heading out for a romantic dinner with his wife, little did he know a secret surprise party was brewing courtesy of Emerica, Club Mumble and The Skateboard Mag.

All Emerican Royalty had gathered at downtown LA's Wurstküche to celebrate the Emerica-turned-Altamont brand manager's 36th birthday. In addition, and unbeknownst to many, he'd be presented with his first Emerica pro-model shoe, designed in secret and months in the making. Click HERE to see more.

Eriberto Oriol for Altamont

A top art critic from The Los Angeles Times called Eriberto Oriol "a people's aesthete for his discerning eye." Eriberto's photos have a strong sense of perspective and composition. This formal sensibility merged with a gift for capturing the raw essence and realities of L.A. Latino street life was instilled in Eriberto's son, Estevan Oriol, at an early age. Estevan is now a renowned photographer and director in his own right. But, it was Eriberto who planted the seed, literally!
The Eriberto Oriol for Altamont collection is in stores now!

R.I.P. Jay Reatard

A loyal Altamont supporter, Jay’s life and prolific creative output touched many (more details HERE). Reatard, born Jimmy Lee Lindsey Jr., was a staple of the Memphis garage rock scene for years before bursting on the national scene with 2006's Blood Visions and subsequently signing to Matador. His most recent album, Watch Me Fall, came out last year. A statement from Matador reads, "Jay was as full of life as anyone we've ever met, and responsible for so many memorable moments as a person and artist. We’re honored to have known and worked with him, and we will miss him terribly." Info on Jay’s public memorial service tomorrow in Memphis can be found below. The public is encouraged to attend. FUCKED UP - Do They Know It's Christmas?

In Fucked Up's annual tradition of dropping a Christmas themed 7"/MP3 they have released a rousing cover of the 1980's Bob Geldoff classic 'Do They Know It's Christmas?'. For the single they have assembled a pretty all star cast of indie hipsters such as Andrew W.K., David Cross, Bob Mould (Sugar), Ezra Koenig (Vampire Weekend), GZA, Kyp Malone (TV on the Radio), Tegan & Sara, Kevin Drew (Broken Social Scene), and Yo La Tengo.

Like last year, this release will be 100% for charity. The money from the sale of this mp3, and the 7" (where this song will be the b-side to a new FU song called "Davids Plan", and will be released mid February) will be split between three groups, 'Justice for Missing and Murdered Ingigenous Women', 'DTES Power of Women Group', and 'Sisters in Spirit'. So please don't illegally download this tune and spend the $0.99.

10 Deep for Altamont

The next collaborator of Altamont for Holiday 2009 is 10.Deep founder and creative director Scott Sasso. The outcome is a small capsule collection, consisting of a hoodie, shirt, t-shirts, cap and a scarf. The collection fuses the Altamont style with details that we learned to appreciate in the 10.Deep collection.
Taking cues from the namesake Altamont tragedy of 1969, Scott invokes the event and the era through motifs like a raceway checkerboard pattern, a bloody arm, psychedelic imagery and a reference to the infamous event security, or lack thereof. All these elements are incorporated with Scott’s signature 10.Deep attention to detailing and unique patterns to create a completely modern brand mash-up.

FUCKED UP on CBC's Q TV

Just recently Altamont advocate Damien Abraham, of our good friends Fucked Up, made an appearance and threw down a really amazing interview with CBC's Q TV (a great show if you ever get the chance to watch or listen). Damien and host Jian Ghomeshi sat down for an interesting discussion on his recent appearances on the now infamous in Canada, FOX News' late night show 'Red Eye with Greg Gutfeld’. If you're a fan of the band or had even just been following the Canadian Military comment controversy with FOX news then this is definitely worth the watch. The Best Of Times

New York, NY – Last night Altamont Apparel Ltd. presented the opening reception for famed street photographer and Altamont brand contributor, Boogie’s latest exhibition entitled, “The Best of Times.” A diverse crowd of over 400 artists, art aficionados, skaters, models, drug dealers, musicians, hang-arounds and a veritable who’s who of the OG downtown New York hardcore scene came out to view a mix of over 700 of the Serbian-born, Brooklyn-dwelling photographer’s new and older work presented in a ‘zine style format throughout the Altamont showroom basement gallery. A live performance by the legendary L.E.S. hardcore band, Murphy’s Law hurled the typical SoHo art show theme out the window and whipped the eclectic crowd into a smiling, moshing frenzy as over 1200 cans of Pabst Blue Ribbon were crushed in what event attendee, Dante Ross called, “the best shit to hit New York in a while.” The Best of Times, indeed! Mike Jones X Mikhail Bortnik

Altamont collaborates with Mike Jones and Mikhail Bortnik for this panic and shock of horror pictures and the merciless existence of street thugs. Applying his sh*t-kicking Midwest upbringing to the no-nonsense approach of the east coast, Brooklyn based artist Mike Jones has subtly infiltrated the apparel world with his bold graphic style. His clients include Mishka NYC, Mighty Healthy, Reason, Beautiful Decay, Mad Decent and now Altamont. Mike’s graphic work embodies a diverse array of styles and draws on his fondness for crass humor, T & A, loud music and cartoon mutants. Currently, he can be found drawing pictures, drinking beer and keeping it thrill.

Mikhail was born in 1978 in the former Soviet Union Republic of the Ukraine. At the age of one, his family left their country of birth for Brooklyn, New York. Due to limited resources and permission, he had to be smuggled out of the U.S.S.R. in a suitcase. Mikhail has done art & design work for Marvel Comics, advertising and children's book publishing before founding Mishka NYC in 2003. He is currently the co-owner and creative director at Mishka and still lives in Brooklyn.

Mikhail found Mike Jones in the back hills of the Midwest in 2005. Since then, Mike has collaborated with Mikhail on the creative side of Mishka NYC. The two have become a unique design force that others try to emulate. They continue to surprise the “street wear” market with their creative genius.
