Bring It To The Streets

"Renting a bus and packing it full of hungry skaters is a good idea, but taking them all over the Greater Vancouver area to skate the cities finest spots with 1000$ to give away is pretty special. We packed 30 skaters and some photographers, filmers and other lurkers in and definitely brought it to the streets. Richmond Bump was the first spot, which lead us to the Richmond banks- also the perfect Marine Drive manual pad. We spent 30 minutes at each spot, so it gave everyone enough time to try and make those pockets a little fatter. From Richmond, B.C, we headed back into the Downtown Core for some perfect Sunday Spots. The rain crept in at Scotia Bank ledge and so we headed up to the Art Gallery for the final spot/money give away. I don't know what was better though- watching them skate the 8 set in the rain or the monster chugging/puking/whipping war. MVP awards to Boyd Young, Spencer Hamilton, Mike aka Hashbrown, Jordan Murray, Stacey Gabriel and Desmond Hoostie. I think everyone walked away with some money though. Thanks to everyone else who came and skated, supported and had fun. To all the sponsors and filmers and photographers- thank you. Can't wait to do it again next year. Peace." - JN

A few months ago, Emerica was invited to participate in a Transworld Skateboarding “contest” called Skate & Create. Kevin “Spanky” Long, Braydon Szafranski, Leo Romero, Bryan Herman, and MVP Brandon Westgate spent 9 days in a warehouse, and created an environment that represented Emerica through video and photography, WITHOUT the use of any photo-shop or artificial photo manipulation.

What resulted was a brilliantly creative video..

Beautiful Losers Documentary Opening on Friday

Probably no better articulation of the DIY mindset in contemporary art is Beautiful Losers, RVCA Advocate Aaron Rose's amazing traveling exhibition and book that brings together the work of an amazing group of artists including Emerica and RVCA rider Ed Templeton, and RVCA ANP Artist's Clare Rojas, Jo Jackson, and Barry Mc Gee - and many others. The documentary for this is out on Friday in NYC, and some more exclusive clips of the film have been released.

Bring It To The Streets

Now here is something original- Underworld, Emerica, and Altamont are taking part in a different kind of best trick contest. Meet at 1pm at the Plaza and the shuttle will take you and the media from spot to spot, pub crawl style. There is a max of thirty skaters allowed in, so don't sleep on entering.

Yeah we proud of our boy! Young Emerican Jamie Tancowny graces the cover of Thrasher Magazine August 2008 with a sweet bigspin. Jamie has been on Emerica for less than a year and is doing a good job of getting coverage to the masses. Jamie Tancowny, who rides for Emerica Footwear and Gear, also rides for Zero Skateboards and Independent Trucks who have given him ads in the past few months. Emerica's Wild Ride on Epicly Later'd!

Emerica has teamed up with legendary artist Donny Miller to create an unconventional event surrounding the launch of Kevin Spanky Long's new Pro Model shoe- the All Day and Night Shoe. Join Kevin “Spanky” Long and Donny Miller on their chaotic journey throughout the streets of Los Angeles and wherever else their skateboards and feet take them. “KEVINalldayandnightLONG - A 24 Hour Film By Donny Miller" will be hosted on the Emerica site, airing on June 24th starting at 6am PST (USA), to 6am the following day. To celebrate the release of the Jerry Hsu shoe and his new clothing line on Emerica Gear, Emerica threw him a party at KCDC skateshop in New York City last week. Also in attendance were Emerica team riders Heath Kirchart, Kevin "Spanky" Long and Braydon Szafranski. Jerry’s good friend DJ Leo Fitzpatrick spun, followed by bands that are part of a Coldsweat and TeePee Records showcase, Phantom Family Halo and Titan. The party lasted until 3:00 am strong with no sign of cops in sight. Stay tuned for more Hsu release parties to come..

Emerica Wild Ride 2008 Announced

Emerica’s Wild Ride 2008 was officially confirmed for June 10-20. The Emerica team will thunder through skateparks on their Harley Davidsons, starting in Easley, South Carolina to NJ Skateshop in Sayreville, New Jersey. The Wild Ride leads to Wild in the Streets in New York City, where over 5000 kids will wreak havoc as they celebrate the joy of skateboarding on Go Skateboarding Day. Beautiful Losers World Premiere at SXSW.

Directed by RVCA ANP Quarterly founder Aaron Rose, Beautiful Losers speaks to the collective memory of the growing movement of artists the 1990’s and the subscultures they represented. Featured in this documentary is also Emerica rider and RVCA ANP artist, Ed Templeton, and RVCA ANP artists Barry McGee, Jo Jackson, Clare Rojas, and Deanna Templeton. The world premiere of Beautiful Losers will screen on March 9, 2008 at the SXSW Film Conference and Festival.

Jamie has had a busy year being added to zero and emerica shoes Direct ! he will have a another busy year ahead of him filming for both company's. The new emerica video is slated to drop in early to mid 2009 which gives Jamie time to film a ton of good stuff. This kids amazing on and off his skateboard i mean there's a reason you get added onto to these elite teams Direct its not just skill, its also attitude and personality.
