Leo Romero for RVCA

RVCA is pleased to announce the release of the Spring 2010 Leo Romero Collection, available now in finer skateboard shops globally! Leo’s own mini-site, http://leo.rvca.com has gone live to help celebrate the debut of Leo’s clothes.
Leo’s line features a range of knits, wovens, t-shirts, and pants…that just so happen to include RVCA’s most popular denim. To help further his career outside of skateboarding, Leo spent a day as a professional model, posing for non-other than RVCA team mate and Artist Network Program member, Ed Templeton. The results are nothing short of breath-taking, and posted for your enjoyment at leo.rvca.com.
As if you needed any other reason to visit Leo’s site – maybe new skate footage, up-to-the-minute breaking news coverage and links to purchase every piece of clothing designed by Leo might do it for you? Still need more? You can have your very own piece of the man himself by stopping by a RVCA demo or autograph signing happening this February! Dates and locations just so happen to be in the news section of leo.rvca.com. See you there.

Charles Spearin - Exclaim's Best Records of 2009

RVCA advocate and founding Broken Social Scene member, Charles Spearin was recently awarded the honor of Best Records of 2009 by Exclaim!*'# Magazine for his release, The Happiness Project. The record is a collection of sounds in tandem with interviews with Charles's downtown Toronto neighbours who all speak on their ideas and thoughts on happiness. It is a truly touching and endearing record and as one review quite accurately put it... "It doesn't always take much to lose faith in humanity and its capacity for compassion and understanding. Likewise, it doesn't take much to renew that same faith.". Charles can also be seen sporting a handsome RVCA Spanky button up in the press photo for the Exclaim!*'# write up. The Happiness Project is being performed this weeked at the Enwave Theater in Toronto with Charles's other well known band Do Make Say Think. Click HERE for ticket info.

We Are Wolves x RVCA
Here is a photo of the We Are Wolves x RVCA window for Underworld MTL. The theme was all about We Are Wolves, as the band launched their new album Invisible Violence few weeks ago. We decided to promote our RVCA’s advocate band in this window. As you can see, the result is as eclectic as the band sounds! Where nature meets music, traditional instruments mixed with stroboscopes and neon, here’s a good Balance of Opposites. Much thanks to Alex, members of the band, and Mathieu Boutin, marketing agent for We Are Wolves for their contribution. Shout out to Underworld for all the support. Nous Sommes Loups!

Brakeless

A little late on this post but had to clean out the photo files. Shouts out to Brakeless in Montreal who helped us with RVCA’s Council Of Doom premiere. A good 75 people took the mass bike ride that ended up with our RVCA rep Gui getting into an altercation with one of those heated MTL drivers. Yes, cops came and in the end Gui got his freedom.

Broken Social Scene - Show of the Year!

If you weren't there then you've probably heard about it and probably know that you missed out BIG TIME! If you were there then you know how epic this show was. Over 6,000 Torontonians packed it in on the edge of Lake Ontario to see their hometown heroes and RVCA friends Broken Social Scene play what has already been touted by local music media as "one of the most significant Canadian concerts of the decade". The band played for nearly 3 hours and were joined on stage by friends Feist, Metric, the Stars, and Jason Collett playing all their classics as well as favourites from the previously mentioned bands. BSS frontman Kevin Drew was even overheard saying "...that was the best show we've ever played". The concert was also filmed my marquee Canadian filmmaker Bruce Macdonald for an upcoming feature film.
Click HERE to see BSS play the classic 'Anthems...' with guests Feist, Emily Haines (Metric), and Amy Millan (Stars). This was the highlight of the show.

Repping one of the finest shop teams, sickest t-shirt designs, and some of the best shop videos period, Blue Tile Lounge has been a constant staple in the Southern Ontario skate community for years. On Thursday March 20th, in celebration of LG's Toronto Fashion Week, RVCA teamed up with local promoters the Jons put together a party/showcase to help launch the brand's new line. Strangelove on College St. W played host to the party which consisted of a live photoshoot and some ripping tunes courtesy of DJ Medley. Big thanks to the guys in Cut Copy for rolling out, as well as their current tourmates Matt & Kim. Also no Toronto party would be complete without the Broken Social Scene posse rolling through as well to cut up a rug.
